0 to 100 km/h in less than 2 s: Pininfarina Battista electric hypercar breaks acceleration record

German manufacturer Automobili Pininfarina has just released performance figures for its electric hypercar, the Battista. The acceleration and braking results are unheard of in the market. Its exclusive launch control system, for example, allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1,86 seconds, surpassing even a Formula 1 car.

The model also reaches 200 km/h in just 4,79 seconds. The top speed is 350 km/h. The numbers were registered in Italy in early 2022 in the last stages of the car's development.

So far, those credentials make the Battista the world's fastest accelerating production car (which could soon be surpassed if Rimac improves on the performance of the Nevera, the world's fastest electric vehicle).

Such a fast car also needs powerful brakes. Tests carried out by the manufacturer indicate that the vehicle also has the most efficient braking in the world. carbon ceramic brake system, the car decelerates from 100 to 0 km/h in just 31 m, says Automobili.

According to Paolo Dellacha, Director of Engineering and Product at Automobili Pininfarina, the “optimized weight distribution and low center of gravity” were crucial in achieving record breaking.

"The combination of bespoke chassis, suspension tweaks and thousands of kilometers of torque tests from the four engines deliver unprecedented power, allowing the Battista to be the fastest accelerating legal car in the world," added the executive.

Finally, the Battista still carries another mark of respect: it is the most powerful Italian car ever manufactured, equivalent to 1.900 electric horsepower. The set is powered by a 120 kW battery, enough to travel 476 km per charge.

It is worth mentioning that only 150 copies of the car will be produced for the trifle of 2,2 million euros, about R$ 12 million at the current exchange rate.
