New WhatsApp? Spanish app emerges as an alternative to the messenger

    The Spanish market for messaging applications is dominated by large global companies, such as WhatsApp, Telegram and Messenger. Even with strong competitors, the developer Brunno Velasco dared to create an application within the same category, which was launched on June 20th of this year, having 19 thousand users so far.

    After more than a year of work focused on code planning and after having won an angel investment of BRL 1 million, Brunno launched SayMe Messenger for Android and iOS systems. This messaging application promises to have the security factor, one of the main differentiators of the business, as well as privacy and faithful attention to user feedback.

    “We don't want to displace anyone. We just want to be one more option for people to choose from. We want to take some of WhatsApp's monopoly away, in the same way that 99 did Uber”, said the creator of SayMe.

    The application came to the world with end-to-end encryption, similar to WhatsApp, however, several innovative features, such as the possibility of scheduling the sending of messages and scheduling a deadline for sending a response. On the issue of privacy, the company says it is possible to configure the platform to block the forwarding of messages and files, as well as to prevent recording or printing of an image on the screen.

    Accessibility

    With regard to accessibility, SayMe provides transcripts of audio messages, making it easier for deaf people to use. Brunno Velasco said that this tool is very useful when the person is in an environment that needs to be silent and needs to have access to the message at that moment, so much so that the idea arose from this situation.

    The next version of SayMe will have an “attention mode” that will have the layout fully adapted for users who have dyslexia. the modified design, each paragraph will start a bold letter, will have interspersed underlined sentences and the background will be yellow.

    According to the creator, this “attention mode” came from a suggestion from the users themselves. This attitude of keeping an eye on feedback is an important goal for the company, which promises to take it up close, as the founder himself has the sad experience of not being heard by the big application companies.

    “This proximity that the user has to SayMe is much greater than the existing WhatsApp or Telegram. We want to be an option for those who want to feel closer to the product”, Brunno argues.

    Other SayMe features:

    • instant unification;
    • Audio calls;
    • Video calls;
    • Creation of groups and hubs (similar to Telegram “channels”, to distribute content).

    Within SayMe, each conversation category, be it private, group, hubs or calls, are separated into different sections so that there is no confusion and yes organization.
