Google is discontinuing its own Street View app

The specific Street View app is about to be discontinued by Google. While stripping the latest version of the Android app, 9to5Google found shutdown notices that the company has yet to publish.

In these notices, the tech giant is announcing that the Street View app will be retired and that support will end on March 21, 2023.

Spokesperson Madison Gouveia confirmed to The Verge that the app is indeed being discontinued. Gouveia also told the publication that Google will remove Street View from app stores in the coming weeks.

Google announced that it was turning Street View into its own app in 2015. Available for Android and iOS, it lets you upload your own spherical photos from your phone or from spherical cameras.

Last year, the company also released Photo Paths, which lets you contribute a series of 2D photos of roads and locations that haven't been documented by a Street View car in the past.

Street View will remain a core feature of Google Maps so you can still explore virtually every place the tech giant has documented its cameras.

You can also continue adding Photo Spheres to Maps and publishing 360-degree videos using Street View Studio. notes 9to5Google, however, there will be no more adding Photo Paths after Google completely shuts down the dedicated Street View app.

However, previously uploaded photo path images will still be visible on Google Maps.
