or identify problems in WhatsApp

Some classic signs are: errors when sending or downloading some content and messages that are not sent or received. In this case, what remains to be seen is whether the application has really stopped working or whether the case is isolated.

With that in mind, here are some tips that might help.

Go to Downdetector

One of the sites that informs if a series of services are working or not is Downdetector by Ookla (the same creator of Speedtest). The tip applies to platforms other than WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and even platforms from other sectors, like your bank system, for example.

On the service's home page, just search for the application or service you want to consult and click on the magnifying glass icon. On the next screen, you can check from the graph if more users also had WhatsApp problems in the last 24 hours.

As more people report an error – which is done by clicking on one of the highlighted buttons – the site changes the graph in real time:

Trends can also flag if there is something wrong with WhatsApp. Basically, the service shows the most searched terms in the world, which normally serves to check the popularity of something more specific in Google's search engine.

In this case, it is worth checking the service for “WhatsApp problems”, or “WhatsApp down” – which was the fifth most searched phrase related to the app on Google in the last 12 months.

turn to twitter

Finally, Twitter is also another good indicator to know if WhastApp and other platforms are having problems. Depending on the number of complaints, a simple search for the application name in searches is enough to confirm whether it is something more serious or regional.
