Google Maps gains addresses of solidarity kitchens throughout Brazil

In addition to Google Duplex, the search giant also took advantage of this Tuesday (14) to announce the inclusion of addresses for solidarity kitchens throughout Brazil on Google Maps. The exhibition of the places involves the free distribution of food and meals to vulnerable people.

Google partnered with the NGO Ação da Cidadania to bring the address of several solidarity kitchens to Google Maps. The results also appear within the American company's own search engine, taking all the necessary information to those who need the food.

The list of addresses involves nearby food banks, pantries and solidarity kitchens, all of which are already registered with the NGO. Altogether, more than 1 addresses are present in search engine results and also on Google Maps, throughout Brazil.

Google wants to promote new solidarity kitchens

“In this first moment, access to information will be promoted by a temporary filter in the main menu of Google Maps, which will directly display the search for food distribution points. You can also find them by typing directly into the search box the terms “solidarity kitchen”, “solidarity kitchen near me” and “food bank”, says Google in a release note.

The arrival of addresses for solidarity kitchens on Google Maps inaugurates this type of action in Latin America, with the objective of helping people in vulnerable situations to find these addresses easily. new, the search giant also wants to encourage the creation of new of these important places in the region.



“We hope that the new feature will make a difference by connecting solidarity food networks who want to donate food or help those who need a one-way meal.
