50 Cent on 'The Expendables 4': 'This Will Be My Movie'

Actor and hip-hop icon Curtis Jackson, better known as “50 Cent,” has said he is taking the lead on “The Expendables” franchise.

During CinemaCon 2022, those in attendance during the Lionsgate presentation received a video message from the star, introducing the first images of the sequence. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the actor and rapper has stated that he will be the standout character among newcomers to the franchise.

“I love movies in theaters. This one, this is about to be my movie. I'm taking over this franchise," said Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. After the actor's introductory speech, the future film won a video presented by none other than Sylvester Stallone, reprising the role of the leader of the Expendables, Barney Ross.

The video offered statistics from previous films, for example that the first three films used 500 units of ammo and piled up over 7 dead bodies. Stallone, playing Ross, reinforced a line of the character from “The Expendables 2”: “This life, it's not for everyone”.

In addition to Stallone, we will have Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture returning to the franchise. 50 Cent is one of the newcomers, along with Andy Garcia, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa and Uko Awais. “The Expendables 4” is directed by Scott Waugh and written by Spenser Cohen, Max Adams and Joseph Connolly.

The action franchise “The Expendables” was launched in 2010, drawing audiences from around the world to theaters to watch the great action icons assemble. The franchise has only grown in notoriety and added new stars to the fold, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme who arrived in “The Expendables 2”, and Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes and Antonio Banderas in "The Expendables 3".

The fourth film had difficulties getting off the ground and Stallone himself left the boat due to creative differences between the producers, but ended up returning to the project later. However, he has already announced that this will be his last appearance in the franchise. Terry Crews, one of the original Expendables, will not be returning for the fourth film.
