The most famous “Killer Toy” of all time arrives at Brazil this wednesday, october 27th, at Star +. Disney's streaming platform guaranteed the exclusive broadcast of 'Chucky', a new series inspired by the iconic film franchise of the same name. The production is developed, written and produced by none other than Don Mancini, creator of the film saga.
The red-haired puppet possessed by the soul of serial killer Charles Lee Ray is one of the most terrifying and iconic villains on the big screen. The character entered pop culture in 1988, with the debut of the original feature film 'Children's Play'. Since then, the franchise has had six sequels, all written by Mancini.
The new series, which has 8 episodes of 1 hour, takes place in a quiet American city, where teenager Jake Wheeler (Zachary Arthur) meets Chucky at a garage sale. Then life in pleasant suburbia turns to hell when a chilling murder spree begins to reveal everyone's deepest, darkest secrets. Watch the trailer below:
As the "killer toy" (Brad Dourif) wreaks havoc, familiar faces from his past return and threaten to reveal his murky origins to a seemingly boy who somehow became the legendary killer toy.
The series cast new characters and some old ones, Björgvin Arnarson (Devon), Alyvia Alyn Lind (Lexy), Teo Briones (Junior), Devon Sawas (Logan), Jennifer Tilly (Tiffany Valentine), Fiona Dourif (Nica/Charles Young) and Christine Elise McCarthy (Kyle).
It is worth mentioning that 'Chucky' arrives on October 27th in a double episode. One week later, and on the following Wednesdays, one unreleased episode will be released on Star+ at a time.

- Don wrote 'Killer Toy' when he was still in film school at UCLA. The original design was different from what appeared on screen;
- Damballa's voodoo perspective and singing were not in the original 'Killer Toy' script, but were added later;
- The name Charles Lee Ray is a combination of the names Charles Manson, the criminal leader and mastermind behind several murders committed during 1959; Lee Harvey Oswald, the man accused of assassinating US President John F. Kennedy in 1963; and James Earl Ray, the man who killed Martin Luther King in 1968;
- In the original script for 'Children's Toy', Andy makes a blood pact with Chucky, which is why the script was originally titled 'Blood Buddy'. Another provisional title was 'Batteries Not Included';
- The slogan of 'Assassin Toy 3', “Look who's on the lookout”, was inspired by the 1989 movie 'Look Who's Talking';
- 'Bride of Chucky' is the first movie that never mentions Play Pals, to show that movies are moving away from their budgets about marketing;
- According to reports, the bathtub scene in Bride of Chucky was in Mancini's original script draft for Child's Play, which is where Andy's nanny was destined to die for the first time;
- 'Bride of Chucky' (1998) was the franchise's highest-grossing film up to that point in the title's history;
- 'Chucky's Seed' was Chucky's first film in which Mancini also directed;
- Initially, Mancini wanted Quentin Tarantino as the director of Seed of Chucky;
- In 'Chucky's Curse', Charles Lee Ray uses the same style of knife Chucky uses in the first film;
- At the end of 'Cult of Chucky', Nica walks Tiffany in a homage to the film Jennifer Tilly, Bound;
- The newest TV series of 'Killer Toy' was seen by more than four million people in the premiere in the United States (USA), according to data from Nielsen. In all, there were 4.4 million viewers.
