“She-Hulk”: Series finale could pave the way for big Marvel movie

A big surprise in the final episode of "She-Hulk", which arrived on Disney+ this Thursday (13), reveals what Bruce Banner did in the space between "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Thor: Ragnarok", and opens way for a possible big Marvel movie in the future.

WARNING: The text below contains major spoilers for episode 9 of “She-Hulk: Defender of Heroes”.

Like the rest of the season, the final episode of “She-Hulk: Defender of Heroes”, brought a little bit of everything: it made fun of Twitter haters, delivered fun cameos, broke the fourth wall several times, and even put Jen ( Tatiana Maslany) to infiltrate Marvel Studios to "rewrite" the conclusion of the series.

However, despite the episode, titled "Whose Series Is This From?", deliberately avoided the typical superhero ending, it did present a foretaste of what's to come in the MCU. In particular the introduction of the son of the Hulk, Skaar, a character from the comics that can explain what the original Hulk (Bruce Banner, lived by Mark Ruffalo) was doing between “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Thor: Ragnarok”.

After convincing KEVIN, a Kevin Feige-style robot (the president of Marvel Studios), who runs the MCU, to delete the subplot about Todd Phelps (Jon Bass) creating Intelligencia and stealing some of his blood to give himself Hulk powers , Jen's story ends with her accepting herself and vowing to bring him down the best way she knows how: in court.

Then, another request from Jen at the Marvel facility is granted: Daredevil (Charlie Cox) returns and she invites him to dinner with her family. At the Walters' meeting, Bruce (Mark Ruffalo) appears with his son, Skaar (Wil Deuser).

Earlier in the season, Hulk left to investigate something on Sakaar, a place he last visited in Ragnarok, which led fans to speculate whether the series was hinting at a future World War Hulk movie - and now it looks like they were. right. Mark Ruffalo has addressed these rumors in the past, saying he is available to make the film.

“Bruce literally descending from outer space to save the day in my story? Uh-uh,” Jen argues KEVIN, as the final episode's “planned script” changes. “But Bruce was supposed to come back to explain what he was doing on Sakaar…we were going to introduce…” KEVIN babbles. “No, no, no, we don't need to hear any of this,” interrupts Jen. “Save it for the movie.” So will we get a new solo Hulk movie?

In the comics, Skaar is the son of Hulk and Caiera, a Sakaaran from the planet Sakaar. Shortly after Caiera revealed to Hulk that she was pregnant, she and her child, or so Hulk believed at the time, were killed when the warp core in Bruce's ship exploded.

Caiera's death prompted Hulk to return to Earth to exact revenge on those who exiled him to space and the Illuminati (a group of heroes already introduced in an alternate reality in "Doctor Strange 2"), as Banner believed they caused the explosion. These events formed the basis for the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk comics. It was later revealed that Skaar was alive. In the comics, Skaar has interacted with She-Hulk, Norman Osborn and the Fantastic Four.

All of this would have happened years before the events of "She-Hulk", but it's possible that Marvel will return to cover these events. “Black Widow”, for example, arrived after the death of Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) in “Avengers: Endgame”, so it would not be the first time that Marvel returns to the timeline to tell a story.

“Woman-Hulk: Defender of Heroes” has all its episodes available on Disney+.
