'Skinny Captain America' was almost played by another actor; check out the story

Known for playing Kendall Roy in “Succession“, actor Jeremy Strong revealed in an interview with The Times website that he almost won a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). According to him, the performance would be for the “thin version” of Captain America, before injecting the Super Soldier serum.

"They told me there was a top secret Captain America movie," Strong revealed. “However, they needed someone to play Captain America's young body before he became a superhero. They said they needed a transformational actor and would use CGI to put the real actor's face and voice (which would be Chris Evans) over mine,” he added.

In this context, Strong was seriously considered for the role, which happened in “Captain America: The First Avenger”, released in 2011. However, the actor decided not to accept the job and continued his career in New York. So, the body double role went to Leander Deeny.

“This is my Los Angeles story. That would never happen for me here.” “It didn't seem like what I had to offer was valued. And the next day I went back to New York and did a play about an Afghan veteran in a wheelchair during the 2003 blackout,” he pleaded.

Interestingly, Strong grew up in the city of Sudbury, Massachusetts, with Chris Evans, who would later interpret Steve Rogers in the MCU. Reacting to the news, Evans stated that he was unaware of the story and was quite surprised.

"Oh no!" Evans told The Times journalist, who reached out to the actor after Strong's revelation. “It just goes to show that the industry is so unpredictable. But I'm so happy that things worked out, because I don't think there was ever a plan B for Jeremy."

Meanwhile, Captain America will win a fourth film in the future and this time, the mantle will be the character Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie. The feature has not yet received many revelations and is scheduled to premiere only in May 2024.
