“This tragedy happened because live bullets were delivered to the set and loaded into the gun. Gutierrez-Reed didn't check the bullets or the gun carefully, Halls didn't check the gun carefully and even announced that the gun was safe before handing it to Baldwin, and Zachry didn't disclose that Gutierrez-Reed was acting recklessly off set. and was a safety risk to those around him,” reads the complaint from Baldwin's attorney, Quinn Emanuel.

According to information from Deadline, the lawyers also appealed to the damage that the accident caused in the professional life of the actor. “Baldwin has lost countless opportunities for employment and associated income,” said Emanuel. "For example, he was fired from several jobs expressly due to the Rust incident and passed over for other opportunities, which is a direct result of the negligence of defendants Gutierrez-Reed, Halls, Kenney and Zachry," he pleaded.

In an interview for a podcast in August of this year, Alec Baldwin insisted that he did not pull the trigger and questioned who would be to blame for live ammunition being in the gun. The actor spoke to presenter Chris Cuomo after the FBI concluded in its forensic report that the gun used in the incident that killed the director of photography could not have fired without the trigger having been pulled.

The investigation into Hutchins' death is still ongoing.
