One of the most critically acclaimed police series, “Law & Order” has won several derivatives, “Law & Order: Organized Crime” and “Law & Order: SVU”, both also renewed by NBC. “Organized Crime” is now in its third season, while SVU reaches its 24th season, surpassing even the original show – it has been on the air since 1999 without interruption.

“Law and Order” is a drama that picks up court cases often inspired by real events. The show features detectives and lawyers on long lines of investigations while also trying to balance their personal lives. Created by Dick Wolf, the series' return for season 21 last year saw the return of Sam Waterston and Anthony Anderson in lead roles.

The renewal is proof of the ongoing success of the production, as well as the good results of its spin-offs. The three series together currently rank No. 18 in NBC's Wednesday and Thursday night ratings — when they air — in the 49-XNUMX age group.

“The iconic 'Law & Order' brand is synonymous with NBC, and we couldn't be more excited to bring back all three of these dramas for the 2022-23 season. It's a testament to the brilliance of Dick Wolf's storytelling that audiences remain drawn to these unforgettable characters week after week, year after year," said NBCU President of Programming, Entertainment and Broadcasting Lisa Katz.

“The renewals of all Wednesday and Thursday night programming is the final verification of our partnership with NBC and Universal Television. Personally, I want to thank the talented writers and casts, the producers who keep the trains running on time, and the crews who tirelessly make outstanding shows despite a degree of difficulty never experienced before due to the pandemic," added Wolf in the statement.

A release date for the 22nd season of “Law & Order” has not been announced.
