Patek Philippe decides to discontinue the world's most coveted watch

The Nautilus 5711 1A-010 is considered the most coveted watch in the world. All because the Patek Philippe model that featured the steel wrist and the blue dial generated a waiting list of approximately 10 years. However, even the great success, the manufacturer decided to discontinue the product.

The clock had an estimated value of US $ 33,7 thousand, something close to R $ 177 thousand, in the current conversion. The high price is caused by the great demand of collectors for the piece and also by exclusive appearances on the arm of some celebrities.

Watch lovers question why Patek Philippe took off the most famous line model, however, the brand's CEO himself clarified the possible reason in an interview with The New York Times in 2019. Thierry Stern stated that despite the fame and high profit, the model lost the exclusivity factor.

“We have many other models that are more delicate and arguably prettier”, complemented the CEO of the watchmaker.

Thierry Stern was harshly criticized on Instagram by consumers who were waiting in line for the model, but replied that Patek Philippe cannot attach to just one piece, having 140 models and 26 of these are variations of the Nautilus.

The Nautilus 5711 1A-010, which was already hard to find, became a true relic after discontinuation, even though the company left the rose gold line still available. On a Chinese auction site, the classic piece was sold for HK$600.

The North American magazine GQ reported that the watch brand has no intention of investing in new models of the classic.
