The duo will face charges of copyright infringement, money laundering and wire fraud. However, so far it is not possible to be sure of how the site hierarchy worked and what exactly the function of the two was.

Initially, Napolsky and Ermakova were charged only with the assignments that began in January 2018, but FBI Assistant Director Michael Driscoll said the two had been running a pirate website for "more than a decade".

Piracy is a relevant issue that helps in the collapse of several authors, mainly national ones. It's a lot like going into the social networks of some Spanish writer and seeing his publications complaining that his recently released book is already being pirated.

The Z-Library gained notoriety shortly after the hashtag “#zlibrary” went viral on TikTok, more than 19 million views, this the Authors Guild, an organization for writers, complained the Office of the US Commercial Representative.

Several students and other users touted the Z-Library as a way to get e-books, textbooks and other course materials for free, and even though the site has gone down, it is still accessible on the dark web and via emails. .

It is possible to say that other portals for piracy of books and other content will have the same end as the Z-Library – even if this measure is not permanent.
