The post-apocalyptic thriller 'Bird Box', a Netflix hit starring Sandra Bullock, will win a spin-off sequel produced in Spain. The project should be the first of several derivatives in “local languages” of the streaming platform.
The plot of the film was not disclosed, but it should create an “extended universe” and expand the franchise – in addition to serving as a direct sequel to the first film, according to Josh Malerman, author of the book that inspired the film production.

The official title of 'Bird Box 2' or the cast of the film have not been revealed either, but the start of production is expected to start at the end of 2021 in Spain. The feature film will be written and directed by Alex and David Pastor ('The House') and will retain original producers Dylan Clark ('The Batman') and Chris Morgan ('Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw'), while original director, Susanne Bier, will serve as executive producer.
The original production was released in 2018 and, at the time, broke an audience record, in addition to winning the title of highest debut for a Netflix original film. In history, a group of people struggle to survive the attack of supernatural creatures, who make the population commit suicide by maintaining any eye contact with them. The protagonist is Malorie Hayes (Sandra Bullock) who, together with a pair of children (nicknamed Boy and Girl), must cross a forest and a river blindfolded to avoid the eyes of “those monsters”.
