Famous series leaves HBO Max; know which

One of HBO's most famous series, Westworld will leave the HBO Max streaming catalog, alongside other original productions.

The information was confirmed by major international vehicles Variety, Deadline, IndieWire, and The Wrap. Westworld was recently canceled after its fourth season without having a conclusion, which was expected for the following season.

Even so, so far it is still possible to watch the series on HBO Max, one of the streaming services of the Warner Bros group. Discovery. But this shouldn't last long. It's still unclear when, but Westworld is expected to leave the streaming service, alongside other HBO originals.

This list includes popular series Love Life, an anthology production that captures one person's love life each season, and science fiction The Nevers. While Love Life has already been canceled and will not win a new season, The Nevers will have a 2nd season, which should arrive in the future new home still unknown to the production.

As per consultation of Technology Refugee, Love Life, The Nevers and Westworld are still present in Warner Bros. streaming. Discovery until the publication of this report.

According to information from the vehicles that revealed the removals, they will take place due to a “financial review” of the company, and the information is that they “will probably reappear on other platforms of the company”. Variety points out that WBD's cost savings come as the entertainment conglomerate cuts residual payments to cast and crew.

Although HBO Max, which will soon (and sooner than expected) be known as just “Max” after Discovery+ is combined, has already lost other content in recent months, this would be the biggest blow to the streaming catalog so far.

Ever since David Zaslav took over the company that resulted from the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery earlier this year, it's been clear that HBO Max was going to be in trouble; even before the deal was fully finalized, executives were already telling investors about what they would be looking for “content efficiencies”.

Since then, the Batgirl project has been shelved, around 200 episodes of Sesame Street have been removed from streaming, and several titles have left HBO Max, as will Westworld. With a production the size of Westworld leaving HBO Max, it's safe to say that almost nothing is safe from Warner Bros. streaming. Discovery.

It is not yet clear whether the departure of Westworld from the HBO Max catalog will also apply to the Spanish platform, since contracts tend to be different between distribution in the United States and in other parts of the world.

UPDATE: The Technology Refugee contacted the streaming advisory in Brazil and received an official response from the company, confirming the departure of the series from the service “in the next few days”:

“As shared at the shareholders meeting and stated by senior executives, Warner Bros. Discovery continues to strategically evaluate how best to maximize its audience and monetization opportunities for its content. The company recently decided to explore licensing certain original programming from HBO and HBO Max to FAST third-party services as part of a packaged offering that will drive and expand a new audience for these series. As we prepare for this transition, these shows will be leaving the HBO Max service in the coming days.”
