Hot Coffee's controversial mini-game is found in the remaster of GTA: San Andreas

The remastering of classic games in the GTA franchise for modern platforms did not go as planned, and, by the way, the problems for Rockstar go far beyond bugs and poor performance: data related to the controversial mini-game of sex Hot Coffee was found in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, indicating mid-2000s headaches may return for Rockstar.

The history of the Hot Coffee mini-game started in 2004, at the time of the original release of GTA: San Andreas. The game mode was programmed by the game's developers, but it was not enabled when it hit stores. However, modders found a way to activate it, both on the PC and on the PS2 and Xbox consoles, causing controversy for the sexual content in a game rescheduled for over 17 years.

At the time, Rockstar changed the age rating to 'Adults Only' and removed codes related to the mini-game in all new versions of GTA: San Andreas. The company still faced legal fights related to the case and, in 2009, settled in a class action paying more than US$ 20 million to solve the issue.

If you wonder, the Hot Coffee code is present in every version of the game, it just doesn't work in later re-releases.

Now, however, a dataminer named Vadim M. was digging through the data from the newly released remaster and found information related to the controversial Hot Coffee in GTA San Andreas. This time, however, there are no half-naked character models and no erotic animations.

The dataminer points out that he believes something has been disabled to prevent the mode from being activated in any way by users, preventing it from becoming playable again.

Beyond Hot Coffee: The Problems of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition

The presence of Hot Coffee data is just one of the slips Rockstar has taken in the remastered trilogy of the popular game franchise. The PC version, for example, was removed from digital stores hours after release due to the presence of “unintentionally included files”, which mainly involved songs whose license was not renewed for the new versions and therefore could not be played. included in the package.

On consoles, gamers report bugs and performance issues, the unstable frame rate for example. In certain parts of the game, or in times of rain, the title is practically unplayable, say users.

Still no prediction of when the game will return to PC digital stores, Rockstar now has one more job to do: in addition to removing the songs, it would be great to definitively exclude the existence of the Hot Coffee mode from GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Unless the company is willing to relive moments of tension in the mid-2000s.

GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition features three classic games from the franchise: GTA 3, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas. The remastered bundle is available for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, in addition to the currently unavailable PC version.
