Of course, we know that Volume 2 of “Stranger Things” will arrive this Friday, July 1st. According to Netflix, the episodes arrive on the platform at 4 am, so anyone who wants to watch it as soon as the series arrives, will have to get up early.

Where are we?

“Stranger Things” picks up a group of friends in the 1980s in the small town of Hawkins, who end up involved in supernatural mysteries after the disappearance of one of them, the boy Will. Since then, several dangers have gotten in the way of the group, which has had a few additions along the way.

In Season 4, Hawkins faces a new enemy: the Vecna, another creature named by his friends after a character in Dungeons & Dragons. The danger intensifies and, this time, those left in Hawkins do not count on the help of Eleven, who has moved to California and subsequently ended up in a secret facility the sinister Dr. Brenner, trying to regain his powers.

So, they need every possible way to try to escape the Vecna, protect those from this being whose identity is linked to Eleven's origin and the murders committed in the city in the past, and try to defeat him. Even the theme of Volume 1 and the new character Eddie is related to a phenomenon called Satanic Panic.

For those who have already watched Volume 1 and would like to remember what happened, Netflix made two videos summarizing what happened so far, one more traditional, and another told by the cast of the series. Watch it here:

What is going to happen?

Well, the short answer would be: we'll see. But several people involved in the series have already given interviews talking about what we can expect from Volume 2, and you can tell that things won't be smooth sailing.

Series director Shawn Levy, for example, has already said that the episodes will "punch you to the heart". “There's a lot being written in regards to the runtimes of these episodes and the hefty runtime of episode nine in particular. Having seen the final two episodes, they are as emotional as they are cinematic. Heck, they are definitely a treat for the eyes, but they pack a punch to the heart.”

Another interview, by actor Jamie Campbell Bower to The Hollywood Reporter, makes us even more suspicious that one or more characters may have a tragic end. “I don't want to say, but I would be worried about the fate of the characters in Volume 2. I hope that's how it feels because it's a darker season and the kids aren't kids anymore. Everyone is in danger. There's an ominous sense that things might not end well. Now, whether it ends well or not, you'll have to watch."

Lastly, series creators, the Duffer brothers, confirmed to Variety that there will be a "body count" in the new volume, so it's good to prepare for goodbyes.

“Stranger Things” has already been renewed for a 5th season, which will be its last, so Volume 2 won't be the end of the series, but should lead it towards the final season.

“Stranger Things” Season 2 Volume 4 arrives on Netflix this Friday, July 1st.
