The film “Top Gun: Maverick“, sequel to the 1980s classic, is already the highest-grossing film in the entire career of actor Tom Cruise.
According to Deadline, “Top Gun: Maverick” hit the mark on Thursday, crossing the $800 million mark at the global box office. By then, the film had grossed $806,4 million worldwide, including $422,2 million in the US alone and $384,2 million worldwide.
Thus, the film already surpasses “Mission: Impossible – Fallout”, which was until then the highest-grossing of the actor’s career, a total of US$ 791,1 million collected globally. The mark was reached after only 21 days of exhibition of “Top Gun: Maverick”, and the film already has the second highest grossing in the United States in the history of Paramount, behind only “Titanic”.
In Brazil, as well as the United Kingdom and Australia and 20 other international markets, “Top Gun: Maverick” is already the highest-grossing Tom Cruise film. These countries, in addition to 12 other international markets, also have Paramount Pictures' highest-grossing film.
“Top Gun: Maverick” is expected to cross the $1 billion mark worldwide, as it is still only 21 days into the air and the film has yet to open in Korea, an important market for Tom Cruise films.
