“Vikings: Valhalla”: Season 2 gets premiere date and new characters

    Netflix has confirmed the release date for season 2 of “Vikings: Valhalla”, the spin-off series of “Vikings” created by Jeb Stuart who, in turn, revealed more about the new locations and characters of the production.

    As Kattegat fell at the end of the 1st season, the situation of the main trio of the series, posed by Leif (Sam Corlett), Freydís (Frida Gustavsson) and Harald (Leo Suter) will not be easy in the new episodes.

    “The whole concept of season two is to take these three heroes that are in Scandinavia and push them out of their comfort zones,” Stuart told Netflix portal Tudum. “The second season for Harald and Leif is a journey: it's Thelma and Louise on the Dnieper River. The two will start this incredible journey. Freydís has to go to Pomerania, which is a very difficult environment.”

    Pomerania was a region located where Poland and Germany are now, and will be a new setting for “Vikings: Valhalla”. new places, new characters arrive, and Netflix has presented the first batch of kings and rulers who will side with and possibly against the protagonists of the series.

    Among them is Harekr (Bradley James), “the ruler of Jómsborg, a kind of legendary Viking place where the pagan Vikings lived”. Stuart describes him as "a great warrior", but warns that "he has a target on his back for any of our heathen hunters, Olaf".



    Hayat Kamille also joins the cast to play Mariam, "an astronomer who is trapped in Novgorod". Marcin Doronciski plays Olaf and Harald's "tough love" uncle, King Yaroslav the Wise, while Sofya Lebedeva is Elena, the daughter of a Russian nobleman.

    With this new information, it's clear that “Vikings: Valhalla” goes beyond Scandinavia. We'll see where the journey takes Leif, Freydis and Harald starting January 12, 2023, when the series premieres, according to Netflix's announcement.
