“Avatar 2” promises to be a historic film that will mark generations

The movie "Avatar 2" arrives 13 years after the original, after it was speculated for years whether a sequel would ever be made. Now, a few days after the release of the long-awaited “Avatar: O Caminho da Água”, the production has won a new clip, which shows new images and promises that this will be the greatest film of this generation.

“I went to the studio and said, 'Let's not just make another movie. Let's go further,'” director James Cameron said of the franchise's ambitions. So the first film, “Avatar: The Road to Water” will continue to innovate in special effects by implementing underwater motion capture technology. 13 years of technological advancements since the release of the first film, the upcoming sequel could deliver the same mind-blowing spectacle that captured audiences' imaginations in 2009.

While much of "Avatar 2's" plot remains a mystery, the video previews a massive expansion on Pandora, new environments, cultures and wildlife. “The world is bigger. The stakes are higher. He was always looking at everything admiringly,” said Zoë Saldaña, who plays Neytiri in the film. “It was the experience of the first film, but on steroids.”

While “Avatar 2” does not hit theaters, we will not know if the new feature will live up to expectations, and will reach the billionaire goals in box office revenue to pay for the huge investment made in it. However, initial reactions from those who have had the privilege of seeing it in advance say that the sequel is better than the original film, which is the record holder at the global box office.

Along with various footage from the film's cast and crew, the video also features new footage, including an epic shot of a whale-like creature known as the Tulkun, leaping out of the water against the backdrop of the setting sun.

New footage of the return of Colonel Miles Quaritch, played again by Stephen Lang, is also shown. He will return as a Rebinder, an Avatar clone embedded in the memories of dead soldiers, potentially posing greater threats against the Na'vi than the first film.

"Avatar 2" should not end the history of the franchise. After “The Way of the Water”, James Cameron plans to release a third film, which was recorded together with what is about to be released, on December 20, 2024. There are still plans for a fourth and fifth film, which are in production .

If the sequel is successful in theaters, “Avatar” could return to strength and become one of the biggest science fiction franchises in the coming years.
