The plot of “Baymax!” revolves around the robot helping not just Hiro, but several people. Helmed by character creator and film director Don Hall, the six-episode series will tackle Baymax's story in a more emotional way, as reported by Collider.

“I thought it would be fun to do a Disney+ Baymax series with regular people interacting. In each of our six episodes, Baymax just wants to help someone – and often they don't want to be helped. He sets out to fix a physical problem he's identified, and in the process he gets to a deeper, more emotional place and can be almost transformative in that role," Hall said.

The series will also feature the return of several “Operation Big Hero” characters, including Scott Adsit (Baymax), Ryan Potter (Hiro Hamada) and Maya Rudolph (Cass). In addition to Hall, Dean Wellins, Lissa Treiman, Dan Abraham and Mark Kennedy also acted as directors and the script was under the creative responsibility of Cirocco Dunlap.

“Operation Big Hero” grossed US$657,8 million worldwide and received wide acclaim from audiences and critics alike. The film also won several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the Kids Choice Award for Favorite Animated Film. This will not, however, be the first series about the robot, which already features “Operation Big Hero: The Series”, which lasted three seasons and used 2D animation.
