“Dahmer” renewed for two more seasons by Netflix

The series “Dahmer: An American Cannibal” will win two new seasons on Netflix, which should focus on new real and terrifying cases.

The story of Jeffrey Dahmer ended in the 1st season, the expectation is that the series will become an anthology, each season telling a different story, like “American Crime Story”, another series involving real crimes by producer Ryan Murphy.

The title in English explains a lot the content of the future of production. Although in Brazil the series has received the title "Dahmer: Um Canibal Americano", in the United States it is known under the title "DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story", or "DAHMER - Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer", in free translation.

Thus, the expectation is that the word “Monster” will give meaning to the new anthological franchise, especially after Netflix does not reveal what the stories of the new seasons will be, but says that they will “tell the stories of other monstrous figures that impacted society” .

The renewal of the series is no surprise, mainly due to the resounding success of the production's audience, which should reach 1 billion hours watched in the coming weeks. In addition to “Dahmer”, another series created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan was renewed by Netflix: “Welcome to the Neighborhood”, another recent success involving a true crime.

Bela Bajaria, Head of Global TV at Netflix, said: “Audiences can't take their eyes off 'Dahmer' and 'Welcome to the Neighborhood.' The creative team of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan on 'Dahmer' and Eric Newman on 'Welcome to the Neighborhood' are masterful storytellers who have captivated audiences around the world. The back-to-back strength of these two series is due to Ryan's distinctive original voice, which created cultural sensations and we are excited to continue telling stories in the 'Dahmer' and 'Welcome to the Neighborhood' universes.”

Season 1 of “Dahmer: An American Cannibal” stars Evan Peters the notorious serial killer. Spanning ten episodes, the season is largely told from the point of view of Dahmer's victims and delves deep into the incompetence and apathy of the police that allowed the killer to go on a killing spree for several years. It is available in full on the Netflix catalogue.
