The title premiered on the platform this Wednesday (2) – check out other Netflix releases of the week here -, and surpassed several original Netflix releases in public preference. However, success also comes behind the scenes of the film, which was surrounded by controversy in its production. In particular, the discontent of the star Jet Li the feature.
Jet Li would have been very disappointed with the direction taken by the production, and he expressed his displeasure already in the interviews in which he should promote the film. The actor even said that the film was “terrible”, according to IMDb.
In addition, the actor revealed in interviews at the time that he had no confidence in the work of director of “Rogue: The Killer”, Philip G. Atwell. The director was making his debut directing a feature, and despite having returned to work as an assistant on other films, he has yet to return to direct a feature.
To plead, the actor also said that, halfway through the production process, he was already aware that the film would be a disappointment, both critically and at the box office. He wasn't wrong. The film grossed an estimated $40 million at the global box office, with a 13% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
