Winnie the Pooh becomes a serial killer in horror movie

The charming Winnie the Pooh will be portrayed as a bloodthirsty killer in a new horror film that will reimagine the childhood character.

The production will be an independent British horror film by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, which will have Craig David-Dowsett in the role of Winnie the Pooh and Chris Cordell as Piglet.

The film will be titled "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" (in free translation "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey") and will be a production of Jagged Edge Productions, which already has other films that are macabre versions of children's productions, the this is the case of “The Curse of Humpty Dumpty” and “The Legend of Jack and Jill”.

There's a reason this release is now possible. It's just that AA Milne's creations entered the public domain from the beginning of this year, which makes it possible for anyone to adapt their characters, as is the case of Winnie the Pooh, in any way they want. Until this occasion, Disney owned exclusive rights to the character.

Rhys Frank-Waterfield has already woven some entries about the film in an interview with Variety. The director explained that the perspective shown is that Winnie the Pooh and Piglet will become villains in the horror film after Christopher Robin abandons them.

“Christopher Robin stays away from them, doesn't feed them, which made life for Pooh and Piglet very difficult. o needed to defend themselves, they became savages. They go back to their animalistic roots and are no longer tame: we have a ferocious bear and a ferocious pig that go around looking for prey,” explained Frank-Waterfield.

But, he made it clear that despite being a horror film, he still expects the story to have a “ridiculous” and “stupid” tone in part, becoming something between that and a scary story.

“Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” does not currently have a release date.
