According to the announcement, from May 24th - Tuesday (tomorrow) - the animation will already be on the service. Sequel to “Sonic”, from 2020, the success of “Sonic 2” was so much that Paramount announced, in addition to a third film for the franchise, a spin-off series focused on Knuckles, one of the central characters of the current production and which was voiced by Idris Elba.
“One thing I already knew after we finished the movie: people are going to love this character. They're going to love Idris playing this character and they're going to want more from Knuckles for sure," said the film's director, Jeff Fowler, on another occasion. In addition to Elba, the Sonic franchise also featured James Marsden (Tom Wachowski), Jim Carrey (Robotnik) and Ben Schwartz, the voice behind the blue hedgehog.
Despite being at the top of feature films based on video game franchises, “Sonic 2” is just one of the films in the new wave of adaptations. Streets of Rage, also from SEGA, will be part of the games adapted for movies and will have the creator of the “John Wick” saga in the pipeline. Recently, Jason Momoa was scheduled to star in another adaptation, the Minecraft movie, and Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, was confirmed in the version of It Takes Two.
