The actress of Spanish origin Barbie Ferreira announced this Wednesday (24) on her social networks that she is leaving the cast of the HBO series “Euphoria”, starring Zendaya.
“Euphoria” is heading for its third season, after the great success that the series had in its second season, and Barbie Ferreira plays the young Katherine Hernandez, one of the main characters of the plot.
In a post on Instagram stories, Ferreira unified his departure from “Euphoria”, stating that he will not return in season 3. In the post, she published an image that she says was the first art that a fan sent her of her character, Kat.
“After four years of embodying the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I have to say goodbye with tears in my eyes,” said the actress. “I hope that many of you can see yourselves in her as I did and that she has brought you joy in seeing her journey into the character she is today. I put all my affection and love into her and I hope you can feel it. I love you Katherine Hernandez,” concluded Barbie Ferreira.

Though she hasn't given a reason for her departure, there are rumors of tensions on the set of Season 2 between Barbie Ferreira and series creator Sam Levinson. However, the actress came to deny these rumors in March, in an interview with Insider.

Barbie Ferreira debuted as Kat, Maddie's (Alexa Demie) and Cassie's (Sydney Sweeney) best friend in the 1st season. The character's journey has gone through issues of self-love as she tries to change her reputation at school. In season 2, Kat's story includes a lie about a terminal illness.
The actress was born in the United States, in the state of New Jersey, but was raised by her Spanish mother and grandmother and speaks Portuguese. “Euphoria” was renewed for a 3rd season in February, but Barbie Ferreira will not be in the cast.
