Prime Video, streaming from Amazon, announced this Wednesday (14) that it will develop a live-action series based on the famous game God of War. The production will be a partnership between Prime Video, Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions.
Earlier this year, it had been revealed that Prime Video and PlayStation were in talks for the possible development of a live-action series based on the God of War games. Now, Prime Video confirmed that the series will really come out of the drawing board.

The latest games have focus on Kratos on his journey through the Norse realm of Midgard, after his quest for revenge in ancient Greece, exercised in the previous games.
The production will catch Kratos and Atreus, his son, on a journey towards the highest peak, made at the last request of his wife and deceased mother. The role of showrunner and executive producer will be occupied by Rafe Judkins, known for The Wheel of Time. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby will serve as writers and executive producers for the series, while Cory Barlog, creative director of the games, will serve as executive producer.
"God of War is a compelling, character-driven franchise that we believe will captivate our global customers with both its expansive, immersive worlds and rich storytelling," said Vernon Sanders, Head of Global Television at Amazon Studios.
Sony Pictures Television Studios President Katherine Pope said, "We are very proud and excited to be working with our friends at Amazon Studios and our partners at PlayStation Productions to adapt this beautiful and exciting game into a first-rate live-action series."
The two games that will be adapted by the series were absolute successes. God of War, released in 2018, is a critically acclaimed game. Meanwhile, God of War: Ragnarok, released this year, was nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, which ended up being Elden Ring.
confirmation happening now, there's still a long way to go before the God of War series hits Prime Video.
