'Hotel Transilvânia: Transformonstrão' receives its premiere date on Prime Video

    The new film in the franchise 'Hotel Transylvania' already has a date to debut on Amazon Prime Video. The feature arrives exclusively on the streaming platform in (almost) the world on January 14, 2022. The only exception is China. 'Hotel Transylvania: Transformonstrom' is the fourth part of the series for the family.

    “The success of the 'Hotel Transylvania' franchise over the years speaks for itself. Audiences around the world have fallen in love with the films created by the brilliant Genndy Tartakovsky, and the fourth film is the perfect ending to an incredible journey,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. She rated the film as funny and entertaining.

    In the new adventure, Drac will have his most terrifying task yet. Van Helsing's mysterious invention, the Monster Lightning, spirals out of control and turns Drac and his monster friends into humans, while Johnny turns into a monster.

    Drac runs out of powers while Johnny delights in his new life. Thus, the protagonist will have help from Mavis to find a cure, in a search for the world, before the change is permanent.

    “The 'Hotel Transylvania' franchise has been exceptional for Sony Pictures Animation, spanning nearly a decade and introducing the world to the unique vision of Genndy Tartakovsky, and we are very proud of what our extraordinary directors Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon have brought to this special title. ,” said Kristine Belson, president of Sony Pictures Animation.



    The first film was released in 2012. Worldwide, it grossed US$358.375.603, ranking 20th on that year's box office list and 5th among animations. Three years later, 'Hotel Transylvania 2' debuted, which rose to 15th at the global box office for the year, with a combined $474,8 million.

    The third film in the franchise, 3's Hotel Transylvania 2018: A Summer Vacation, had the highest grossing at $528.583.774 at the global box office (but 17th overall for the year). The second and third films can be seen on Netflix.

    “These films thrilled audiences and paved the way for so many artists working in computer animation, and now the family saga of Dracula and his daughter Mavis, son-in-law Johnny and monstrous friends is coming to an end. We are excited to be working with Amazon to bring this film to families around the world,” added Belson.

    In the latest title of the franchise, creator Genndy Tartakovsky returns as one of the writers and executive producers. Actress Selena Gomez, who voices Mavis in English, is also one of the executive producers. The film is produced by Alice Dewey Goldstone and executive produced by Michelle Murdocca. Also writing the script are Amos Vernon and Nunzio Randazzo.
