“Star Wars”: Where do Disney+ series fit in the timeline?

Disney+ has just received the first episodes of the “Andor” series, part of the “Star Wars” universe, but where does the series, and so many others on Disney+, fit in the franchise’s chronology?

In recent years, since the end of the most recent trilogy of the Skywalker Saga, which ended in 2019, Disney and Lucasfilm have been turning their attention to productions for Disney + when it comes to the “Star Wars” universe.

Since the very successful arrival of “The Mandalorian“, investments in series that explore characters on the fringes of this universe have been expanding, several productions already launched and yet to arrive.

In addition to having a growing number of productions, the chronology of “Star Wars” tends to be quite confusing and expands more and more, which makes it difficult, especially for those less aficionados of this universe to locate themselves.

So let's locate each Disney+ "Star Wars" series on the Lucasfilm franchise timeline. To make locating the timeline simpler, we've also included franchise movies.

“Star Wars” movies and series in chronological order

  • Star Wars: The Acolyte (2023-)
  • Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999)
  • Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002)
  • Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005)
  • Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021-)
  • Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022-)
  • Andor (2022-)
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
  • Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977)
  • Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
  • Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983)
  • The Mandalorian (2019-)
  • The Book of Boba Fett (2021-)
  • Star Wars: Ahsoka (2023-)
  • Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015)
  • Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017)
  • Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

In bold we have the Disney+ series, while in italics are the films of the franchise. It should be noted that there are other older animation series that were not included in this timeline.

As we can see, "Andor", which has just arrived on Disney+, takes place between the events of "Obi-Wan Kenobi", which arrived on the platform this year, and the movie "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", whose events series is quite connected.

Such series, like "The Bad Batch", take place in the chronological interval between the trilogy of the 1990s and 2000s, known as the prequel, which focused on Anakin Skywalker's journey until he turned to the dark side of the force, and the original trilogy , in which we meet Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, and a Darth Vader who terrorizes the galaxy.

“The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett”, which are even intertwined with each other, take place after the events of the original trilogy, and before the most recent trilogy, which showed the dominance of the First Order and the emergence of Resistance heroes. , Rey and Finn. “Ahsoka”, a Disney+ series not yet released, will also be located in this range.

The only production that will not take place between trilogies will be “Star Wars: The Acolyte”, which will take us to the High Republic Era of this universe, before everything we know in the franchise. There is still no production scheduled for after the most recent trilogy.

All productions from the “Star Wars” universe mentioned here are available on Disney+.
