The Prime Video series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” arrives this week. Therefore, Technology Refugee brought a guide to the long-awaited production, which is the most expensive TV series in history.
Amazon in search of a franchise to call its own, Prime Video acquired the television rights to the work of JRR Tolkien, “The Lord of the Rings”, and chose to develop a prelude that takes place well before what was known in the trilogy of Peter Jackson.
The series divided opinions of fans of “The Lord of the Rings“, who will finally be able to watch the result of the millionaire production.
Cast and Crew
Before talking about the series itself, let's meet the cast and production crew of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
The series has a very diverse cast, people of different nationalities. Morfydd Clark will live Galadriel, the protagonist of the series. High King Gil-galad will be played by Benjamin Walker, while Robert Aramayo will play young Elrond and Charles Edwards will live Celebrimbor. Another elf relevant to the series' story is Arondir, a forest elf played by Ismal Cruz Cordova.
Númenor will be an important region of Middle-earth for the series. There, Cynthia Addai-Robinson will live the Queen Regent Míriel, while Tystan Gravelle will be Pharazôn, who will challenge the Queen. Charlie Vickers will play Halbrand, an original character who will join Galadriel on her quest to locate Sauron.
Daniel Weyman will join the Hairyfeet the Stranger, who could end up being a version of Sauron himself, according to one theory.
the history of the series
Fans of “The Lord of the Rings” who have already read Tolkien's work have some idea of what themes the series will tackle. As it is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, it is known that "The Rings of Power" is supposed to address the rise and fall of Sauron.
But it is not known exactly what will happen in the series. This era in question lasted about 3500 years of Middle-earth's history, so the series must condense this timeline to show a unified history. What is also known is that Galadriel will be the protagonist of the series, on a mission to hunt down Sauron and seek revenge for the death of her brother.
Meanwhile, a shape-shifting Sauron causes trouble far and wide, including infiltrating Númenor and eventually corrupting Pharazôn. He will recruit allies and must spend some time among the Hairyfeet, one of the ancestors of the Hobbits whom we meet thousands of years later.
On the other hand, the Dwarves will be in search of mithril metal, Arondir and Bronwyn will live a forbidden romance.

References
The series is based on "The Lord of the Rings", so it should bring several references to Tolkien's books. It is already known that there will be a sea monster in the series, which may turn out to be one of the Nameless Beings. Another important reference is the discovery of mithril by Durin IV and other Dwarves in Khazad-dûm, which points to Durin's Bane.
However, the references most awaited by Tolkien fans must be the allusions to the classic tale "Lay of Leithian". In it, a man named Beren joined the Quest for the Silmaril. Although successful, the search ended badly for all involved. Finrod was killed in Sauron's dungeons by a werewolf, and apparently his death will be the catalyst for Galadriel to join her hunt for Sauron.
