What is GeForce Now

Nvidia has its own cloud game streaming service: GeForce Now. The program connects with other PC gaming platforms, Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, EA Origin and Ubisoft Connect, to offer near-instant access to over 800 titles across multiple genres, including Fortnite, Apex Legends, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077, Destiny 2 and more.

For free, Nvidia's service allows you to run games that are already in your library on different devices, from Windows PCs to Android and iOS phones and tablets. In the following lines, the Technology Refugee explains in detail what GeForce Now is, platform requirements and supported games.

What is GeForce Now

GeForce Now is a cloud game streaming service that lets you run games from your library on Nvidia machines. The images of these games are transmitted via the Internet and reproduced on devices compatible with the platform. When stopped, the program works similarly to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

In other words, Nvidia is responsible for making the game work. You just need to have a stable Internet connection to walk around using a video game controller or mouse and keyboard.

The big differential of GeForce Now is that Nvidia does not sell the games. The service allows you to access games already used in libraries on other platforms, Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, EA Origin and Ubisoft Connect.

However, not all games can be accessed through game streaming. For a game to be compatible with the service, the developer must allow it. But there's no need to worry, because Nvidia's platform has over 800 titles available.

What are the GeForce Now requirements?

To use GeForce Now, you must have a stable Internet connection and use a compatible device. The service works on Windows PCs, Macs and Android phones. You can also access the platform through Google Chrome and Safari web browsers, if you want to use iPhone or iPad.

Some newer Samsung televisions released from 2021 onwards can also run GeForce Now through the Samsung Gaming Hub.

compatible games

GeForce Now supports over 800 games currently. Among the catalog are titles Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Destiny 2 and much more. The full catalog of compatible games is available on Nvidia's official website.

It is worth noting that GeForce Now can only run games that the user has already played on some other gaming platform. For example, the platform is capable of running Cyberpunk 2077, but only if the game already exists in the Steam, Epic Games Store or GOG library.

GeForce Now plans and pricing

In Latin America, including Brazil, GeForce Now has two plan options: one free and one paid, billed every six months.

The free GeForce Now plan guarantees access to all games, but it is only possible to access the service in sessions of up to 30 minutes. Also, there is a queue to enter the servers.

The GeForce Now paid plan costs BRL 311,47 every six months and gives priority to accessing servers, longer game sessions and even allows you to run games in the highest possible quality, RTX graphics, including Ray Tracing.
