Season 5 of “Cobra Kai” is just around the corner, bringing more karate, dojo brawls and some of history's most iconic characters.
The new episodes arrive a few months after the season 4 premiere, which took place on December 31, 2021, growing in interest from fans.
“Cobra Kai” is a sequel to the 1980s “Karate Kid” franchise, and each season brings back characters from the films, and villains return to disrupt the lives of the protagonists. The series focuses on a well-known film duo: Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio, and his archenemy Johnny Lawrence, played by William Zabka.
The franchise's most iconic rivalry returned in the series, years after the iconic All-Valley tournament. In the present, Johnny Lawrence is presented as a depressed alcoholic, who still hasn't gotten over losing the tournament to Daniel LaRusso so many years ago. Meanwhile, LaRusso has a successful car sales business, and a loving family by his side.
But, Johnny decides to open his own dojo, called Cobra Kai, after meeting a bullied high school student, Miguel Diaz (Xolo Mariduena), and teaching him the cruel fighting style of Cobra Kai. the addition of more students, Johnny resumes the feud with Daniel, after he starts his own dojo to carry on Mr. Miyagi, his former sensei.
Over the four seasons, several names and faces known to fans of “Karate Kid” returned to the scene, Kartin Kove, Traci Toguchi, Yuji Okumoto and Elisabeth Shue. But, the appearance of Thomas Ian Griffith and maniacal sensei Terry Silver in Season 4 was the one that had the most catastrophic consequences on the plot, which will carry over into Season 5.

Despite originally being a YouTube original series, the rights to “Cobra Kai” have moved to Netflix, where you will be able to watch episodes of the new season. The series is exclusive to Netflix, and can be seen on the platform by streaming subscribers.
The 5th season of “Cobra Kai” arrives on Netflix this Friday, September 9, a total of ten episodes of about 30 minutes each, which is the standard of previous seasons.
