Where is that file/photo/video/document that I downloaded on my cell phone? Our smartphones are data warehouses, as we are downloading apps and media all the time, for immediate or future consumption. But what about when you look for a file and you can't find it?
Each system has its default storage location for downloaded files. We will now explain to you where to find the downloads on your device.
iPhone
The Files app is your download hub - from photos to music saved to GarageBand. So if you downloaded something in the past, you’ll almost certainly find it there.
There are two tabs: Recent and Explore. If you do not remember the exact name of the file, you can type the first letters, which the application suggests probable candidates.
In the second option, you can search for the name, or browse the iCloud Drive, the device's memory in the On my iPhone folder, the Downloads directory or deleted files.
Android
Depending on the models and manufacturers involved, the name of the file search application may be different.
In general, on the Apps page you should look for your phone's file manager, which will be named My files, Files, Downloads or File manager.
In the application, you must look for the Downloads folder. In some cases, it may be necessary to tap Internal storage before reaching this point. If the file you are looking for is not in Downloads, try another folder on the memory card or use the search bar.
Third-party apps
Finally, it is worth mentioning that some specific applications save downloads in their own internal folders. For example, you can find Netflix downloads by opening the Netflix app, tapping the Menu icon in the upper right corner of the screen and selecting My Downloads.
In certain cases, other applications can do the same. This applies to iPhones and Android phones. Therefore, if you downloaded a file using a specific application, try to open it if you cannot find the download in the usual locations.
