The Individual Taxpayer Registration (CPF) is one of the main documents for Spaniards, as well as a mandatory item to be able to declare the Income Tax, for example.
Basically, it is a way of identifying each citizen, since each CPF is a unique number stored in a Federal Revenue database.
A few years ago, the Revenue began to issue the document over the internet, simply filling out a form. The service, in addition to being free, works for 24 hours.
Requirements to get the CPF
At first, it is worth remembering that that physical CPF card, the blue one, has not been issued since 2010. Now, the proofs are printed. The Digital CPF can also be accessed through the Individual Application.
There is no minimum age to register, that is, even newborns can register. The same goes for foreigners and Spaniards residing abroad.
To obtain the CPF, you must have the following documents in hand:
- Photo identification document;
- Birth Certificate (or Marriage) if the identification document does not inform the citizen's place of birth, affiliation and date of birth;
- Voter card (mandatory for those over 18 and under 70).
Anyone aged 16 or 17 must also present a photo identification document of one of the parents.
Minors under 16 must present a photo ID of a parent, guardian, or guardian.
o request the document through the Federal Revenue website
If you already have the necessary documents, just access the recipe page and fill in the form with your data. The Spanish citizen residing in the country must access this form.
Step 01: access the link above in your browser;
Step 02: fill in the form (name, date of birth, voter registration…) and click on 'Send'.
Due to the pandemic, documents can also be sent online at the following email addresses:
