Uber Pass: what is it and how to use it?

After Uber announced the end of the Uber Rewards program, many people wondered how to get discounts on rides in the app. That's why we've prepared this guide for you if you still have questions about what the Uber Pass is, how to use it and if it's worth it.

What is the Uber Pass?

Uber Pass is Uber's subscription discount program where you get unlimited discounts on car and grocery trips.

To use it, first of all, you must be in one of the several cities where the pass is available. If your city is included, you will see the Uber Pass in the "Account" menu of your application.

Afterwards, you must pay a subscription of R$ 24,99, which will automatically renew every month and you can cancel at any time.

You must subscribe before starting to use Uber Pass. See the step by step to activate it:

Access your Uber application;
Tap the Account tab;
If the pass is available in your region, Uber Pass will appear in the list of options;
Click on “Secure your Uber Pass”;
Enter payment details or confirm the information that appears;
Tap “Secure your Uber Pass” again.

Now your subscription is active, just order your car or market to have the discount applied automatically.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and uncheck the “Automatic renewal” option.

Important: You will continue to benefit from the Uber Pass for up to 30 days from the date you purchased it. To avoid being charged for the current month, turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the expiration date.

Uber Pass vale a pena?

Considering only Uber rides, it is worth subscribing to the service only if you spend more than BRL 250 per month on the app. To make this calculation, enter your budget (R$ 250), reduce the 10% discount (R$ 25) and add the subscription fee (R$ 24,99). That is, R$ 249,99.

Now, if you also use the app, you should consider when calculating how much you spend per month on shipping alone – since the market service fee will always be charged, regardless of whether you have the pass or not.

For it to be worthwhile, the sum of your Uber budget, the 10% discount plus the subscription and the shipping cost must be less than R$250. The subscription already considers, for example, if you spend at least R$220 on Uber and R$ 30 for shipping. That is, consider that the more you spend per month on shipping, the smaller your Uber budget must be for it to be worth the subscription.
